O. Schindler ricordato per aver salvato durante la seconda guerra mondiale più di 1000 ebrei dallo sterminio della Shoah, nonostante non si conosca il numero esatto, secondo alcune fonti furono tra i 1200 e i 1300. Schindler utilizzò il pretesto di impiegarli come personale necessario allo sforzo bellico presso la sua fabbrica di utensili, la D.E.F. (Deutsche Emaillewaren-Fabrik), situata nel distretto industriale di Zablocie, a Cracovia.

O. Schindler remembered for having saved more than 1000 Jews from the extermination of the Holocaust during the Second World War, although the exact number is not known, according to some sources they were between 1200 and 1300.
